Steve and Sonia are excited to introduce the newest addition to their Pilates instructors, Helen Walser. Many of you have met Helen already around the studio or seen her around town. Growing up, Helen played pretty much any kind of team sport available to her, from basketball, softball, soccer and even football during college. After college, Helen turned to both cycling and group fitness to stay strong and active and relieve the stresses of the corporate world. It became such a big part of her life that she began to teach in different fitness facilities around the Baltimore/Washington metropolitan area. She became a certified group fitness instructor through AAAI/ISMA and certified spinning instructor through both Johnny G. Spinning and Cycle Reebok. The years of teaching, along with an active outdoor lifestyle, lead to severe pain in her neck, back and hips. Faced with slowing down or finding a solution, Helen discovered The Pilates Studio and the benefits of core strength, body awareness and balance. Helen has now been an avid student of Pilates for three years and has seen improvement in her strength, athletic performance and teaching skills as she incorporates the principles of Pilates into her fitness classes. Helen has joined the Pilates team as an instructor and has completed her mat certification through Balanced Body and will continue with certifications in the other Pilates disciplines. She is also currently studying hard to sit for her personal training certification through the American Council on Exercise (ACE). Helen will be taking over some of Lisa Marie's class equipment and mat classes. She is also available to private mat classes and personal training. Helen's personal training programs will be tailored to your needs and may include sport specific training, light weight training, Pilates, spin or any other techniques to help you reach your fitness goals.
