The Pilates Studio is excited to add another yoga class to our expanding yoga program! This one is especially tailored to beginners and any level of yoga student who wants to review the basics and deepen their understanding of yoga. This class is taught by Mindy Candee and offered in an 8 week series that starts Monday March 12th at 9:00 am until 10:30. The Basics of Hatha Yoga: Taught in the adaptive Viniyoga tradition, this class will focus on the fundamentals of physical postures, breath and proper alignment in order to develop flexibility, strength and an increased sense of wellbeing. You will also learn about counter-posing and sequencing for developing a safe and effective home practice. Viniyoga is a method of teaching Classical Hatha Yoga, which is adaptive to each student's individual needs. It focuses on the health of the spine and joint system, emphasizes using the breath in each movement of the body, and often uses repetitive movement in addition to longer holds of postures.
Perfect for beginners, this class is taught in an 8-week progression. If you are new to Yoga it is recommended that you attend the class as a series. Drop-ins are ok too!
Cost for the entire 8-week series is $90.00. Drop-in: $13.00.
Please pre-register for 8-week series!

Mindy Candee has been a student of Yoga since the mid 1980s. She became an instructor in 2001 and co-founded the Salida Yoga Center in 2004, before passing it on to the current owner. She has studied with Lex Gillan, Stan Hafner and Johanna Sullivan, among others and carries an Advanced Instructor Certification from the Houston Yoga Institute. Mindy is passionate about teaching Classical Hatha Yoga in the Viniyoga tradition, passed on by T. Krishnamacharya and T.K.V. Desikachar. She is drawn to Viniyoga because it is not a style of Yoga, but rather a method of teaching Classical Hatha Yoga, which is adaptive to each student’s individual needs. It focuses on the health of the spine and joint system, emphasizes using the breath in each movement of the body, and often uses repetitive movement in addition to longer holds of postures. Mindy finds that teaching in the Viniyoga method is an effective means of meeting each student where they are in their own personal Yoga journey.
In addition to being a student and teacher of Yoga, Mindy has been a Certified Massage Therapist since 1992 and a Structural Integration Practitioner (Rolfer) since 2007. She also has a B.A. in Literature from CU Boulder. Mindy and her husband, Eric Candee have been happy to make Salida, CO, their home since 2003.
